It looks like Gregg Popovich is already starting to shift strategies with his San Antonio Spurs.

Just three wins shy of obtaining the record for most regular season wins ever by a head coach, Popovich spoke with the media as his club was getting set to resume their rodeo road trip.

"It's time to go out there and be accountable, like everybody else," he told the San Antonio Express-News.

Included on that list of accountability: what appears to be a full-time version of 19-year-old rookie, Josh Primo. After starting the season off only playing sparingly, Primo has received minutes in the last 10 games, and we shouldn't be expecting that to change going forward.

“(Sending Primo back to Austin) is not in the cards,” Popovich said. “He’s gotta play. Throw him in the frying pan.”

When Pop spoke to the media in January about Primo during a trip to his home country of Canada, he had expressed a desire to do just that, even using the same phrasing.

"If I could really do what I wanted to do and I didn't care about anything else in the world, I'd throw him in the frying pan the way we did Tony Parker," he said. "But the difference was Tony played a couple of years against grown men in the European Leagues before he came over."

That time appears to be here before many of us expected, as we should finally no longer be getting those "Primo has been assigned to the G League" notifications we've all been accustomed to receiving.

“He’s going to be a player for us for a long time,” Popovich said. “He shows an uncanny maturity on the court for such a young kid."
