The last time the Houston Rockets met the San Antonio Spurs, they lit up the scoreboard with a 37-point fourth quarter and 16 made threes.

It was a humiliating defeat for San Antonio, who were without Derrick White and Doug McDermott but still should've had a much better defensive performance than they had in that home game. While Dejounte Murray did everything he could to help the Spurs fight back late with his triple-double, the Spurs fell 128-124.

Now, both teams will be nearly fully healthy for round two.

The Spurs are coming off two straight losses after falling to the Philadelphia 76ers 115-109 and are playing their first road game since January 10th. Meanwhile, the Rockets fell to 14-33 after their narrow loss to Golden State and have had three full days of rest.

San Antonio Spurs vs Houston Rockets Prediction

I have to be honest -- I underestimated either the Rockets' abilities or the Spurs inabilities in the first matchup between these two teams. I thought San Antonio would handle business easily despite being shorthanded.

I expected Christian Wood to go off against the Spurs, which he did. What I didn't expect was a vintage performance from Eric Gordon and an ice-in-his-veins performance from Kevin Porter Jr.

Even though they're at the bottom of the Western Conference, the Rockets need to be respected just as any other professional sports team does. Still, since I've pretty much predicted against the Spurs almost all month due to their tough schedule, I'm going to double down and say they get back on track in H-Town.

Derrick White absolutely needs to start shooting the ball better soon, and this would be a good time to start. His defensive presence will also be vital in stopping Houston's 3-point onslaughts even if he isn't helping that much offensively.

Dejounte Murray and Jakob Poeltl will anchor the team with their consistency, but this one will come down to the Spurs limiting or at least keeping up with the Rockets from downtown. Let's hope they can.
