The San Antonio Spurs will look to get back in the win column when they host LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night. Although they fought hard on the second night of a back-to-back against the defending champion Bucks, the Spurs go into the matchup on a two-game losing streak.

After a slow shooting start in the first two games, Doug McDermott is coming off a career-high seven 3-pointers made in his last game, one in which he scored 25 to lead San Antonio. Keldon Johnson has had a hot start to the season, averaging 20.7 points on 56.3% shooting from the field in three games.

The Lakers, meanwhile, come off a narrow victory over the Memphis Grizzlies, one in which they got a vintage performance from Carmelo Anthony (28 points) and shot 16-for-30 from beyond the arc. It's been an adventure getting Russell Westbrook acclimated to his new role in Los Angeles, as he's made just 15 of his 43 shots and has committed 17 turnovers in three games.

Update: LeBron James is out for the game.

San Antonio Spurs vs Los Angeles Lakers Prediction

This might be the game where I break my three-game correct prediction streak. If I'm going by roster construction and expectations, the Los Angeles Lakers should be clear favorites in this matchup. Then again, they're not playing great basketball so far this season, which was predictable given their roster overhaul.

Meanwhile, the Spurs have been showing grit and determination and haven't been as outmatched by contenders as many expected them to be so far. Games without a star can always be traps, but I think the Spurs will have enough depth to pull back to .500 here.

Look for either Bryn Forbes or Devin Vassell to break out of their early outside shooting struggles in this one as the Spurs pull away in the final minutes.
