After nearly completing a major upset over the Phoenix Suns despite resting several players, the San Antonio Spurs look to get back on track against the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday.

The Spurs were without the services of Dejounte Murray, Jakob Poeltl, and Derrick White as the first two recovered from various ailments while White was officially listed as resting. The expectation is that all three will be back for the three-game homestand that begins Tuesday.

The Spurs are now 19-32 after falling 115-110 to the Suns and being swept in the season series. Doug McDermott led all scorers with 24 points while Lonnie Walker chipped in 22.

The Warriors took care of the Houston Rockets on Monday and will be on the second night of a back-to-back when they stop by the Alamo City. Because Steve Kerr has previously said he prefers to split Otto Porter and Klay Thompson with resting days on back-to-backs, he will be sitting for the contest against the Spurs.

Tuesday afternoon, the Warriors announced Stephen Curry would be sitting for the second night of the back-to-back as well. The full list of players out was shared by Anthony Slater of The Athletic.

San Antonio won the previous meeting in Golden State on Dec. 4, 112-107.

San Antonio Spurs vs Warriors Prediction

The San Antonio Spurs showed a lot of promise and grit in their shorthanded game against the best team in the West. They now face another of the conference's most complete teams with their regular guys back in the rotation.

The Spurs match up better with Golden State than you'd expect, but they still need multiple standout performances from players that can be hot and cold. Predicting a San Antonio win has basically turned into a bet on whether they can put a complete game together and shoot competently from the outside.

*Update: With the latest news of several players being ruled out for Golden State including Stephen Curry, my prediction has changed as of 2:40 pm ET. I think the Spurs should hopefully be able to take care of a shorthanded team in this case, but let's hope they don't take them lightly as they did with Detroit earlier this season. That was embarrassing.

Spurs 115 , Warriors 103

Opponent Role Player to Watch: Damion Lee had a surprise 14-point performance in the Warriors' previous loss to the Spurs and played just nine minutes on Monday. The Spurs must do a better job of handling him this time around if he gets more playing time.
