The tough competition continues for the San Antonio Spurs as they look to notch their first win over a contending team on Saturday. In the first meeting between the Spurs and Milwaukee Bucks on October 23rd, Khris Middleton's 28 points led the way to a 121-111 victory in San Antonio.
Doug McDermott, who broke out against the Bucks with 25 points on 7-of-11 shooting from downtown in the game, will be sidelined this time around with a knee injury.
The Spurs are coming off a 104-99 loss to the Dallas Mavericks in which they blew a 20-point first quarter lead. Meanwhile, the Bucks never lead in their home loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves despite 40 points from Giannis Antetokounmpo.

I've been burned by the Spurs' lack of execution down the stretch in their last two outings. Until this group proves they can play a full 48 minutes against top-level competition, it's hard to predict in their favor.
This game is the finale in a brutal stretch of five straight against elite or near-elite teams, and I think San Antonio will probably need to be content that they hung in them all despite falling to 1-5 early on.
If Derrick White breaks out of his slump, Dejounte Murray and Jakob Poeltl continue playing exceptionable basketball, and another scorer steps up, the Spurs have a decent chance. So far, all of that hasn't happened together since the season opener.
