Ever since being traded to the Atlanta Hawks, former San Antonio Spurs star Dejounte Murray has been living it up in his new environment.
It's no surprise that the freshly crowned NBA All-Star is having fun in Atlanta. After all, he's a 25-year-old just entering the prime of his life and basketball career. Plus, he had been speaking with Hawks star Trae Young for weeks leading to the trade, saying how much he wanted the deal to go through.
"It's something we both wanted. ... I told him it's gonna happen."@DejounteMurray is ready to team up with Trae π€

It's safe to say Murray has been enjoying his new environment away from the Alamo City. On Wednesday night, he continued his recent streak of flashing stacks of cash on Instagram.

Spurs fans have mixed reactions to Murray's activities
Although Dejounte is no longer in San Antonio, many fans are still obviously invested in him. After all, he was a vital part of the organization for the last six years and just had a breakout year in which everyone was proud to see him make his NBA All-Star debut. As such, many reacted like concerned family on Twitter.

3. Greedy agent Rich Paul forced trade to bigger market.
4. Troubling social media posts ensued.
Tbh never felt sad about his departure the way I felt about Tony or Manu or Timmy. He's not the same. I really do hope our new core will retain that Spurs culture and spirit, which means not so vocal and active on social media, stop being so materialistic and stay humble.

Kinda think ATL the prefect environment to enable the lifestyle heβs always wanted . Could lead down the wrong path .

Obviously, Dejounte is a grown man free to do anything he wants to. I'm not here to cast aspersions one way or another. It's not uncommon for NBA players to boast their luxuries on social media at all, so I get Murray wanting to do that after a rough upbringing.
But the Spurs have always maintained that once a player spends time in San Antonio, they're family, so most people that follow the team still want what's best for him and hope he doesn't go down the wrong path.
Flashing money on Instagram isn't exactly a major offense, but it'll be interesting to see if things start to escalate from here for him in Atlanta.
