It'll be breakfast with the San Antonio Spurs for local fans as they take on the Brooklyn Nets at 11 am CT on Sunday.

The meeting marks the first time San Antonio will reunite with a pair of beloved recently-parted members of the Spurs family: Patty Mills and LaMarcus Aldridge (although Aldridge will be sidelined from playing with foot soreness). Mills is having a career year in Brooklyn, averaging the most points per game (13.3) he's ever averaged in a season on a blistering 42% shooting from three.

Aldridge is similarly having a rejuvenated season after briefly retiring and is on pace to have the best shooting season of his career (56.5%).

After suffering a short-handed setback to the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday, the Spurs will still be without three starters against the flourishing Nets and certainly face an uphill battle.

The Nets have won the last three matchups in the series, recently defeating the Spurs 128-116 last May.

San Antonio Spurs vs. Brooklyn Nets Prediction

Leave it to health and safety protocols to ruin what would've been a cheerful reunion between the San Antonio Spurs and their guys. While Coach Popovich and the available roster will undoubtedly be happy to see Mills and Aldridge, the rest will have to hope the full team is ready to go in the next meeting in San Antonio on January 21st.

Given how decimated the Spurs' roster is right now, it's hard to see them having nearly enough firepower to get past Brooklyn with a victory. Kevin Durant and James Harden are a handful no matter who they're playing, and we all know how often former Spurs give their former team the business.

Here's to hoping for a more fair battle in a couple of weeks, but this one probably won't be very pretty.
