Victor Wembanyama was the talk of the town during the NBA regular season. Fans tuned in all around the country to see the generational talent show what he could do against the best basketball players in the world and he did not disappoint. As the unanimous Rookie of the Year, there are no real criticisms to level at Wembanyama's game right now. He is too talented; he showed that and he's still so young, that it is unreasonable to nitpick his greatness.
One of the steals of the 2023 NBA draft, GG Jackson II, spoke on Wembanyama in an interview with FanDuel TV and he did not lowball his expectations for the French phenom now affectionately referred to as the Alien.
Wembanyama has already made believers out of many NBA players
Jackson II's comments are a representation of what Brian Windhorst has been hinting at and what Shams Charania stated in the media recently. Players are recognizing the dominance incoming at the extraterrestrial-sized hands of the Wembanyama. No accomplishment seems unattainable and he has made it clear that he wants it all.
When it was announced that Wemby didn't win December's Rookie of the Month, he told the media, "Every game is a statement from now on." That was on January 5 and from that moment until the end of the season, Wembanyama averaged 23 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and four blocks. That's putting the league on notice and they paid attention. It's only a matter of time before the Spurs find the right partners for Victor but they should have a fair share of options in the coming years.
