Denver has a 12-point win under its belt over San Antonio from way back in November. The Nuggets now head to Texas as a double-digit road favorite looking to pull away from the lowly Spurs.

Denver has looked like a team threatening to win back-to-back NBA titles since returning from the All-Star Break. The Nuggets have won four straight and 10 of their last 11 while the Spurs have dropped four of their last five. San Antonio is used to being a big underdog this season and will try to stay within the big number Friday night at Moody Center.

Here’s the betting breakdown of the matchup with a best bet.

Nuggets vs. Spurs key players to watch

Nuggets

Michael Porter Jr.: Denver’s surge to open the second half of the season has been partly fueled by Porter Jr., who is averaging 19.5 points in six games this month. Porter opened the month with a double-double, then turned a game-high 25 points and 9 rebounds in Wednesday’s win over the Miami Heat.

Spurs

Tre Jones: Jones averages just 9.6 points per game this season, but is shooting over 50% from the field. Jones is coming off one of his best games of the season, scoring 24 points (his most in a game since Jan. 13) on 9-of-15 shooting with four 3-pointers in Tuesday’s home loss to the Houston Rockets. Jones is averaging 7.3 assists in six games this month, tallying double-digit dimes in back-to-back games last week.

Nuggets vs. Spurs prediction and pick

Is this a sleepwalking spot for the defending champs? The Nuggets, which are tied with the Oklahoma City Thunder for the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference, are two days away from a nationally televised (ABC) road matchup against the Dallas Mavericks.

It could be easy to overlook the Spurs, who have already been eliminated from playoff contention and have the worst record in the Western Conference. However, San Antonio has been a feisty underdog in recent play. Over the last 10 games, the Spurs are No. 6 in the NBA in defensive net rating (116.8).

It hasn’t helped the Spurs add to the win column, but it has been profitable to San Antonio backers. The Spurs are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games and are 6-0 ATS since the NBA All-Star Break as a double-digit underdog. It’s all about the spot for Denver and San Antonio’s ability to keep it close. Take the Spurs.
