The Spurs have arrived at three wins and two losses after five games this season. During this opening stretch, San Antonio has shown significant developments unlike anything we have seen before. From the emergence of Victor Wembanyama to unique lineups from Head Coach Gregg Popovich, we have a flurry of trends to sift through. One thing is for sure, and that's how much fun this campaign will be.
1.) Victor Wembanyama has arrived as a superstar
The 19-year-old has exploded onto the scene under the watchful eye of the entire basketball community. We haven't seen media coverage of a rookie like this since LeBron James in 2003. However, Wembanyama has shown everyone he is worth every bit of the hype and then some. The Frenchman has continued improving and established more intensity while cleaning up the little mistakes each game. Tuesday night was the young prospect scratching the surface.
During his second matchup against the Phoenix Suns, he shared the court with two superstars, Devin Booker and his idol, Kevin Durant. Despite having pressure to perform, he held his own and looked like the best player on the hardwood without showing signs of being starstruck. It was incredible to see a young player dominate an established champion and generational player like Durant. That outing spoke volumes about the potential of this young man.
