The Victor Wembanyama era begins on Wednesday night with the San Antonio Spurs taking on Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks.

Wemby and the Spurs will be on national television, making this a great game to consider betting on in the prop market since it is a marquee matchup.

While Wembanayama is going to get all of the headlines – and rightfully so – there are two other Spurs youngsters (Devin Vassell and Jeremy Sochan) who may be better targets if you’re looking to bet on this game.

I shared my favorite props for them, and a prop for a Dallas star for Wednesday night.

Mavericks vs. Spurs best NBA prop bets

  • Devin Vassell OVER 16.5 Points
  • Jeremy Sochan OVER 9.5 Assists and Rebounds
  • Luka Doncic OVER 28.5 Points

Devin Vassell OVER 16.5 Points

This prop for Vassell is one of my favorite picks for the night, and I explained why in my NBA Best Bets column for BetSided on Wednesday:

The former first-round pick averaged 18.5 points per game last season despite dealing with injuries that limited him to just 38 games.

Oddsmakers have Keldon Johnson and Victor Wembanyama with higher scoring props than Vassell, but he led the team at points in the preseason. A high-volume shooter (15.7 field goal attempts, 7.0 3-point attempts per game last season), Vassell is coming off a career season shooting the ball.

Vassell had a 25-point game against Houston in the preseason, and he should see plenty of touches in the Spurs’ bigger starting lineup. I value him a little more than Johnson at their current prop numbers.

Jeremy Sochan OVER 9.5 Assists and Rebounds

Jeremy Sochan is going to be the de-facto point guard for the Spurs to open this season, and that could make him a lethal target in this prop.

In his final two preseason games, Sochan finished with 10 and 17 combined rebounds and assists, clearing this number in both games.

He now takes on a Dallas team that really struggled rebounding the ball last season – ranking 30th in the NBA in rebounding percentage.

The Spurs youngster should stuff the stat sheet in the team’s season opener.

Luka Doncic OVER 28.5 Points

Listen, if we’re going to bet on a Mavs player, why not make it Doncic?

Luka is coming off a season where averaged 32.4 points per game, yet oddsmakers have given him a lower points prop than Kyrie Irving in this matchup.

At 28.5 points, I think Doncic is a little bit of a steal since Dallas lacks proven options on offense entering this season. Doncic and Irving are going to get all of the looks they can handle.

Maybe Doncic is expected to facilitate a little more, but I expect him to outscore Irving, so I think there is some value in his points prop on Wednesday.
