Aside from the comedic aspect of Poeltl coming back to San Antonio less than a year after they sent him to Toronto for a load of draft assets, this is a move that would make an abundance of sense from a basketball perspective. Poeltl has expressed that he does not want to be a part of a rebuilding team, and San Antonio is now looking to compete in the western conference.

Poeltl would provide an extra layer on the back line of this defense. Popovich can choose between pairing up Wemby and Poeltl, or splitting them up into different lineups. Regardless, San Antonio would have the luxury of possessing two elite shot blockers to anchor a plethora of imposing lineups. The two European giants would wreak havoc on opponents in the paint.
