The San Antonio Spurs are on a winning streak and have a winning record for the first time in almost a year after Victor Wembanyama dominated the Phoenix Suns, outlasting their Western Conference counterpart 132-121. It was a well-rounded team performance, so let's look at the winners and losers from this Thursday night matchup.

Winner: Victor Wembanyama

There's no question Victor Wembanyama has been just as advertised and maybe more. The number one overall pick scored a career-high 38 points on 57.7% shooting from the floor, going 3-of-6 from three. The Suns struggled all night to defend the alien as his teammates figured out how to run the offense through him, finding him in the paint with entry passes and giving defenders no chance at contesting his shots.

Even when the Suns started mounting a comeback, Wemby was the one who came in and shut down the opposition in crunch time. The Frenchman dropped 10 points and went a perfect 4-of-4 from the field over the final four minutes. And through the first five games of his career, he has scored 39 points on 78.9% shooting in the fourth quarter.

The Spurs invested their future into the teenage extraterrestrial, and that is paying off early into the season. If there were lingering doubts about his skillset, those can go to the wayside. More than anything, we can squash the Bol Bol comparisons.Â
