3 low-risk players the Spurs could replace Chris Paul with by the trade deadline
Lonzo Ball
The Chicago Bulls traded for Josh Giddey this offseason. He's going to be their point guard for the foreseeable future, so they could be looking to move Lonzo Ball for the right price, and since San Antonio could pay just about any price (within reason), there's no reason why they couldn't dive in here.
Lonzo Ball's place on this list is similar to the reasoning for Ben Simmons' inclusion. He's been battling injuries for years, but now he's hopeful that chapter is behind him. Ball has been ramping up his basketball activities, even participating in 5-on-5 training sessions lately and looking good while doing it. He's another big guard with elite passing ability. He possesses strong defensive instincts and improved his three-point shot tremendously, shooting 42% on the season before he got injured three years ago.
Granted, this is another risk, but it's another low-risk move for the Spurs considering Ball is in the last year of his contract, so once again, the Ben Simmons scenario applies. If he truly is healthy again, Ball could be a great fit in the lineup next to Stephon Castle, Devin Vassell, Jeremy Sochan and Victor Wembanyama. They would be able to make defensive switches against almost every team in the league and wreak havoc on that end of the floor.
