Chris Paul's deal with the Spurs is only for one season, and there's no telling whether he'll stay on the roster until the end of that contract. At 39 years old, it's hard to imagine that he wouldn't want another chance to win a ring if the opportunity presented itself. Teams may come calling if he can show how valuable he can be in San Antonio before the deadline. But that's not the only factor.

The Spurs could find themselves in a situation where Stephon Castle is playing very well with the ball in his hands or the team is performing ahead of schedule as a group. Those circumstances could be the catalyst for moves to bolster the roster heading into the second half of the season. There are several players across the league with uncertain futures, and they'll all be unrestricted free agents next offseason, except one.

Trae Young

Let's get this one out of the way because, as much as some fans are out on the idea of bringing in Trae Young, it's still on the table. He still has three years left on his contract, but the Spurs can afford him. There isn't a single year on his deal above $50 million, and San Antonio doesn't have any expensive players on their salary cap.

Young brings elite playmaking, having averaged 10 assists per game three times in his career. He also provides more shooting, which fans know the team desperately needs, and his dog mentality adds to an attitude growing in the Spurs. Jeremy Sochan and Victor Wembanyama have shown similar aggression in their play styles. They get demonstrative, and it gets everyone going. The team could use more of that.
