14. Portland Trail Blazers (via Warriors) select Ron Holland

The 6’8 wing entered the season as the projected number-one overall pick but saw his stock drop significantly during a disastrous season for the G League Ignite. It was an ill-fitting roster that lacked a true point guard. Holland is out for the remainder of the season with a thumb injury but will be ready for pre-draft workouts.

In his 14 regular season games with the Ignite, Holland averaged 20.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 2.5 steals in 33.6 minutes per game. The 18-year-old shot 44.5 percent from the field, but just 24.0 percent on his 3-point tries. He was asked to do too much, and the Ignite struggled when he was on the floor this season.

How much do NBA teams knock him for the mess of the G League Ignite? Holland competes hard and has loads of potential on both ends of the floor. He can get buckets, handle the ball, make plays, and defend multiple positions. Holland is not NBA-ready, but few 18-year-olds are.

The Portland Trail Blazers are in the early stages of a rebuild and have a massive need on the wing. Getting potentially the best player in this class at 13 after selecting his G League teammate in the top ten is a massive win for the franchise.
