6. Charlotte Hornets select Ron Holland

The Hornets are another franchise with a new top executive, and many teams are questioning who they will select. If LaMelo Ball, Brandon Miller, and Mark Williams are locked in as their core, it would make sense for Charlotte to target a wing and several intriguing options are available.

It has been a roller-coaster season for Holland. The 6’7 wing entered the season as the projected number-one overall pick before he struggled with the G League Ignite. At his lowest, some questioned if Holland would be selected in the lottery, and things are still unclear.

He averaged 20.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 2.5 steals in 33.6 minutes per game during the regular season. The 18-year-old shot 44.5 percent from the field, but just 24.0 percent on his threes. His jumper must improve and likely does immediately in the optimal role.

Ron Holland is not a primary creator, but does not have to be in Charlotte. He can play off Ball and Miller as a bucket-getter with significant upside. The Hornets would need to be all-in on developing him. If his jumper, defense, and playmaking improve, Holland could regain his position as the top player in this class. That only happens in the right situation where his development is a focus.
