2024 NBA Mock Draft 2.0: Spurs snag 2 top-10 picks, Pistons go upside at 1

9. Oklahoma City Thunder (via LA Clippers) snag Tyrese Proctor
Proctor had a slow start to his freshman year at Duke before coming on in the second half of the season. He looks more like the player from late in the year to start his sophomore campaign. The 6’5 guard averaged 12.8 points, 5.4 assists, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.0 steal in 30.6 minutes per game through five contests. Proctor is shooting 47.8 percent from the field, 37.5 percent on his threes, and 84.6 percent from the free throw line.
The Blue Devils’ guard is one of the best pick-and-roll ball handlers in the NCAA, but there are questions. He struggles to separate from defenders and his jumper has been inconsistent. If he can shoot over 37 percent from three, make plays, and be a stout defender, his draft stock could rise throughout the season.
The Oklahoma City Thunder have more draft picks than they can make and a roster full of talented young players. They could go anywhere with any selection, but getting a 6’5 guard who can handle the ball, make plays, and defend seems like a safe bet.
Proctor should be an NBA player, but is he more Killian Hayes or Spencer Dinwiddie? Whoever takes him will believe in him as a starting guard for a decade in the NBA.
