2024 NBA Mock Draft 2.0: Spurs snag 2 top-10 picks, Pistons go upside at 1

3. Portland Trail Blazers draft Alex Sarr
Sarr is building a strong case to go number one overall. The 7’1 big man put on a show against the G League Ignite in September, including an impressive 12 blocks over the two contests. His defense is the standout skill right now. Sarr is a big man who can get out on the perimeter and protect the rim.
Through his first 15 games for Perth in the NBL, Sarr averaged 9.5 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and 1.3 blocks in just 19.7 minutes per game. He is coming off the bench in Australia, but there have been plenty of flashes.
In a class with no solidified number-one pick, Sarr could get there if he continues to improve his offensive game. He has made 11 of 39 3-point attempts so far this season. Can the 7’1 big man consistently make shots? There have been playmaking flashes, but his handle needs some work to be effective against NBA competition.
The Portland Trail Blazers are in the early stages of a rebuild and should select the best player available. They certainly need defense, and Sarr profiles as one of the best in this class. The Blazers would have to make him fit next to Deandre Ayton, but the 7'1 big man has a ton of potential on both ends of the floor and could keep climbing draft boards.
