5. Boban Marjanovic
If Boban wants to continue his playing career, he will have no shortage of suitors in free agency this summer. The 7’4" big man may not make a massive impact on the court, but he does off of it. Marjanovic lights up a room, and he can always make those around him smile.
The Athletic’s Tim Cato told the story (subscription required) of how special Bobi is back in 2020, and in the piece, Gregg Popovich had this to say about Marjanovic.
"He’s a special, caring, loving, upbeat guy. And he’s a better player than everyone thinks. But you couldn’t ask for a better professional, a better teammate, for sure."
Consider the Spurs among many franchises that will give him a look this offseason. Boban hasn’t played more than 500 minutes since 2019, and it has happened just twice since he joined the NBA in 2015. Marjanovic is not going to make this massive on-court impact, but he works hard and makes life better for his teammates.
The San Antonio Spurs were Boban Marjanovic’s first NBA team after he came over from Europe. The 7'4" big man has spent the last four years in Texas, including three with the Mavericks. Could a San Antonio reunion be in store for Bobi? He will have his choice of teams this summer, and it will be interesting to see where he ends up in free agency.
