Small Forward: Ron Holland

No one seems to have a clue where G League Ignite forward Ron Holland will be selected come draft night. Holland was initially seen as the likely number-one pick, but his draft stock is a big question mark, with some still having him as the top player in the draft while others expect him to go in the 5-10 range.

In fact, in a recent Bleacher Report mock draft, they had him selected ninth overall. If that is the case, then they almost have to take him due to his potential as a two-way wing. Defensively, Holland has a chance to be highly effective and was able to force turnovers at a high rate with his length, athleticism, and timing.

With the Ignite, he averaged a terrific 2.3 steals as well as nearly a block per game, by being able to strip ball-handlers, close gaps, and jump passing lanes. On offense, while he struggles to shoot from outside, hitting just 24% of his threes, he still averaged 19.5 points per game, largely due to his ability to attack off the dribble.

On the Spurs, he'd replace Julian Champagnie at small forward and give them someone who can immediately help on the defensive end and has a high offensive ceiling if he becomes a respectable 3-point shooter. Given the team's needs, they should prioritize point guard first, but if he's available at eight, they should take him.
