The belief in Victor Wembanyama is growing faster by the day. NBA cap expert Tom Haberstroh and basketball legend Carmelo Anthony are the latest to jump on the train for MVP. Both on their own respective podcasts made the claims that they can see the vision. The Alien is on the brink of a breakout season because, as impressive as he's already been, he's entitled to one just like everyone else.
"We've never seen no s**t like Wemby, that's MVP."

Two years in, he's averaging 23 points, 11 rebounds, four assists, four blocks, and a steal for his young career. That's already sensational, but the same is true for him as it is for Stephon Castle... he's going to improve. He's already shown it. With a launchpad set so high, it's easy to see how he can reach MVP if the rest of the team comes along for the ride.
Wemby is set up for an unreal year
First of all, his upcoming explosion starts with him. He's put the work in, and he has the freakish measurables and unwavering focus to be great. The player always deserves the most credit because if they don't do their part, nothing else matters. Great runs start with a partnership between the organization and their best players.
The franchise didn't slouch, though. They very astutely put young pieces in place to grow with Vic. The whole thing works in tandem as the supporting cast helps the superstar and the superstar helps the cast. The symbiotic relationship only works if the players are compatible, though. Early returns say that they are, so Brian Wright deserves credit for that.
Look at history. Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Tim Duncan, Hakeem Olajuwon, Shaquille O'Neal, etc., all had stellar seasons in their third year. Wembanyama is in that tier, so if you believe that Vic is the next star to kick in the door for top-5 all-time, like I do, then you're also salivating about the possibility that he wins MVP.
It's nice to be first in this business. Even as a fan, you boast when you make the big prediction before everyone else. I don't know if I was the first to express the belief that Wembanyama will win MVP, but I was close enough.
Months ago, I made the claim that if the rest of the team steps up, Wemby will make history by winning that award as the youngest to do so, taking that title from Derrick Rose. So, just keep that in mind if he pulls it off. I'll need someone to nurse my arm back to health after I strain it from patting myself on the back.
