San Antonio is currently the most slept on team in the NBA, and while I guess you can make arguments for why that's the case. If you look closely, you should see something completely different than a team that may battle for a play-in spot. There's much more in the cupboard than that, and Zach Lowe is on the bandwagon, believing the Spurs could reach higher heights than many expect.

Lowe hits the right marks with pinpoint accuracy. He doesn't mention that the steadiness at the head coaching spot is another benefit the team didn't have last season, but that's okay. I did. His points are on the money. When you pair them with the fact that they underperformed last season due to the crazy adversity they faced, the Spurs are poised to downright shock the world.

Youth and energy can drive winning

The Oklahoma City Thunder just won an NBA championship with one of the youngest rosters in the history of the league. They did it by being fully committed to the process every game. They used their youth to their advantage, as they came at teams in waves of athleticism and effort. It overwhelmed their opponents.

The Spurs have the potential to do something similar, and while I don't see them winning a championship next year, they could certainly reach 50 wins and a playoff spot. This is the deepest team the Silver and Black have had in a long time, if ever. If they take advantage of that and lean into their youth by playing hard for 48 minutes every night, they'll be on their way.

De'Aaron Fox will go on a revenge tour

Fox has been outright disrespected by members of the media and fans alike. There have been doubts cast about whether he should still be in San Antonio's plans after landing Dylan Harper. He's been effectively pigeonholed in the public's perception. Many seem to believe that the former Sacramento star can only play one way, but that's mostly never the case with NBA players.

This is a team game with a head coach, and good players do what their coach asks of them and make sacrifices for the team. He's more than willing to do that, and it's silly to think otherwise after deciding to come to a team where Vic would clearly be the number one option, and where Stephon Castle was having an awesome season.

He'll be ready to prove his critics wrong, which means the Spurs may get the best version of Fox the league has ever seen. Disrespect is a potent motivator.

Victor Wembanyama will dominate

What if I told you that a guy who averaged 24 points, 11 rebounds, four assists, and four blocks a game, who also shot 35% from three, was only a second-year player who accomplished those numbers while being restricted for one reason or another? You would have to assume that this player's ceiling was much higher. You'd probably even get excited about what was next for this unicorn.

Well, you should be. Wembanyama had his minutes limited in his rookie year, and he was ruled out after 46 games because of a blood clot in year two. Wemby's next step could be a leap over the moon. He's that talented. If the rest of the team is playing with that youthful energy, and Fox is having a career year, Vic wouldn't just be the cherry on top; he'd be more like the toppings after a free-for-all at Cold Stone Creamery.

San Antonio has their stars, a couple of young studs drafted at the top of the lottery, and plenty of guys to throw at you who are tired of losing. This team has something to prove, and Zach Lowe nailed exactly why the league should be scared of what's coming.
