Monstrous Spurs game makes era-defining statement against terrified Thunder team

OKC seemed intimidated by Victor Wembanyama's presence.

If you listened to the talk from fans and analysts coming into this game, you'd think that the Thunder were unbeatable, but it turns out you just need an alien. The Spurs not only beat OKC, but they beat them in a game that mattered to both teams. There's $500K on the line for each player on the winning team. Trust and believe they all want that, and if you don't believe me, just watch the games.

The stars on these teams flat-out told us that they wanted to win the Emirates NBA Cup. Unfortunately (for them), there can only be one. San Antonio took the fight to their neighbors to the north, outperforming them in every quarter except the first. The biggest observation most should come away with is that the Spurs may be the better team with Victor Wembanyama on the floor.

OKC is coming off a championship, but that meant nothing to Vic. He didn't get into the game until the second quarter and only got to play three minutes in his first stint. He was a +7 in those minutes, immediately making his presence felt against an ordinarily disciplined team. The Las Vegas crowd popped whenever he did anything. All of that should tell the NBA everything they need to know about the Spurs and the Alien.

The Spurs dynasty is emerging before our eyes

Usually, you'll want to see teams win at least one championship, or even a playoff series, before beginning the talk of dynasties, but I have eyes, and so do you. There is too much talent on this team to think they won't win their fair share of postseason matchups. Winning a championship is something different. Many things have to go right just to win one, let alone a string of them.

But where's the fun in waiting for it to happen? Sports are supposed to be exciting, and part of the excitement is making predictions. That's why you love to remind your friend about the superstar player whose rise you guessed when he was a rookie. It's all a part of the game.

My prediction for the Spurs is that Wembanyama will lead them to at least three championships, but there's the potential for more because of the core. This isn't a one-man army. As flabbergasted as we all are when we watch this man hoop, his co-stars are more than dangerous enough to warrant painstaking game planning.

De'Aaron Fox just entered his prime. He's going to be good for a while. If this is what Stephon Castle and Dylan Harper are giving the team now, imagine what it will look like in another 3-4 years. Everyone in the NBA should be very afraid.
