Victor Wembanyama has been listed as "questionable" on the latest Spurs injury report. The label seems to be more of a formality as the Alien is expected to play in San Antonio's first matchup of the season against the New Orleans Pelicans.

This is great news for a Spurs team on a three-game skid. The Silver and Black are 5-5 in their last ten games after showing loads of promise early on. There are several reasons for their falter, but the simplest one is their youth. Regardless, they have aspirations to make the playoffs, and it's within their reach, but they'll need Wemby to do it.

The Alien won't be the only one back in the rotation for the Spurs. Devin Vassell isn't on the injury report at all, reinforcing that the plan to reintegrate him gradually is going according to plan. He'll suit up. While SA gets major pieces back, the Pelicans will be short-handed as they have been throughout the entire season.

The Pelicans won't have Zion Williamson

New Orleans will be on the second night of a back-to-back when they go to the Frost Bank Center to play a Wemby-led Spurs team. The Pelicans are having a tough season. It's a smack in the face to their fan base, who were excited about the roster after the acquisition of Dejounte Murray. It seemed like a match made in Heaven, but the basketball gods had other plans for the Bayou.

Murray got injured in the first game of the season and missed the next 17. He's only been able to compete six times so far this year, so he's still working off his rust. San Antonio will see their old point guard tomorrow, but they're still without Zion Williamson. The powerful big from Duke has also been limited to six games this year. He hasn't played since November 6, and he's not expected to for a while.

Jose Alvarado is another rotational piece the Pelicans are missing. He suffered a hamstring injury in November and is expected to be out for a few more weeks at minimum. Daniel Theis was questionable coming into their game against OKC tonight but was ultimately ruled out.

Conservative thinking says New Orleans will err on the side of caution, and he'll miss the Spurs game, too, but nothing is official on that front yet.

The Pelicans are last in the Western Conference with a 5-18 record that will likely be 5-19 by the end of the night. It's the perfect match-up to get San Antonio back on the right track after a stumble.

Update: 11:34 AM

Brandon Ingram suffered an ankle injury in last night's game against OKC. He's been ruled out for tonight's game with an "indefinite" designation. Ingram is averaging 22 points, five rebounds, and five assists this season. The Pelicans' are suffering another blow on the injury front, further lowering the ceiling on their season.

Update: 1:37 PM

The Spurs have upgraded Victor Wembanyama to probable for tonight's game versus the Pelicans. Wembanyama has missed the last two games, and San Antonio looks to snap their three-game losing streak.
