Kon Knueppel just put Wemby in some ridiculous all-time company

Charlotte Hornets' young sniper, Kon Knueppel, was asked to build his all-time starting five, and Spurs fans are going to love his answer. Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Tim Duncan, and Victor Wembanyama. Read that lineup again, and a couple of things stand out.

Those are four names that end most GOAT arguments... and then there's Wemby—a 22-year-old headed into his fourth year. He's slotted alongside some of the best to ever lace them up like he belongs there. And if we're talking about pure talent and ability, he does.

Even Wembanyama's peers see how inevitable he is

Just sit on this for a moment. Wemby doesn't have the resume to be labeled as the best center ever, but that's not the argument. His resume is only three seasons long, with gaps, injuries, and a whole prime he hasn't even reached.

That's what makes Kon's answer so awesome. He's pretty much saying he doesn't need to wait any longer to believe what his eyes are already telling him. Charlotte's sophomore has had to guard the Alien, chase him in transition, and watch him erase shots that had no business getting erased.

When a guy who actually competes against Wemby starts placing him next to MJ and Bron without blinking, that's more than hype. It's a scouting report, and it's one the whole league is writing at the same time.

Duncan and Wemby sharing the list makes it even more special

Seeing both Duncan and Wembanyama in this all-time starting five is a reason for Spurs fans to smile. David Robinson has often been overlooked on these lists, and there have been some pretty special centers, so we don't really complain, but it's nice to have another silver-and-black-wearing big recognized like this.

Two faces of San Antonio's frontcourt history, a generation apart. Two completely different games, two completely different eras, and both guys clear the bar for a lineup that a current NBA player believes could be unbeatable.

San Antonio spent almost two decades building its identity around Duncan's quiet but relentless dominance. Fans are now watching the French Mind Flayer speed-run his way to Timmy's side, as he gets name-checked right alongside him by a contemporary, which is incredibly satisfying. You just don't see that kind of respect so quickly very often.

It's not easy to land transformative franchise players. Just ask Sacramento or Washington. Spurs Nation is stacking two of them back-to-back. Other fan bases label San Antonio the luckiest franchise ever because of their fortune in landing these guys. I mean, can you blame them?

Victor Wembanyama is so good that his peers have begun to bypass the need for a full resume before recognizing his greatness. So, call it what you want, but I'll take that every single time.
