The San Antonio Spurs can only laugh at the scandal that has surrounded former Spurs star Kawhi Leonard. Leonard and the Los Angeles Clippers are being investigated for alleged salary cap circumvention.
Hi. PTFO can now confirm that Aspiration gave Kawhi a secret $20M side-deal, as first reported by @BostonSportsBSJ.

Combined with Kawhi’s secret $28M no-show endorsement deal: that’s $48M.
PTFO previously reported that Steve Ballmer’s personal Aspiration investment was... $50M.
The allegations are that Leonard received at least $28 million in salary off the books and another $20 million in stock options. That may only be the latest in a series of questionable deals involving Leonard, with his uncle Dennis Robertson reportedly seeking extra perks from the Toronto Raptors to get him to stay.
It dates back further, however, with him missing 73 games during his final season with the Spurs. There were questions about the severity of his injury, which led to a falling out between him and the team and led to him demanding a trade.
Nevertheless, despite all of this, the Spurs have taken the blame for Leonard wanting out. That's clearly changed now with him facing mounting criticism.
The false Kawhi Leonard narrative involving the Spurs has shifted
When looking at the online discourse surrounding Leonard and the Clippers drama, Leonard's rep has taken a clear hit. Many find it funny that he'd allegedly demand nearly $50 million extra, on top of his $175 million contract from the Clippers, only to be in street clothes for most of their games.
The perception about Leonard is clearly changing among NBA fans, with his behavior coming under increasing scrutiny. However, it hits different for Spurs fans. Spurs fans thought he was going to be the team's next David Robinson or Tim Duncan, but he was not HIM, as the kids say.
Instead, he demanded a trade and tried to steer his way to Los Angeles, not caring about the havoc he was causing.
That included costing Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili, and Gregg Popovich their last chance at a championship. He also left LaMarcus Aldridge holding the bag, despite him sacrificing stats to be the second option on a championship-caliber team in 2018.
Ironically, Aldridge had the best season of his career without Leonard and helped keep the team afloat for a couple of seasons after Leonard left. Leonard eventally ended up on the Clippers, where they have little to show for their massive investment. No banner, nothing.
NBA fans are starting to wise up to Kawhi Leonard's antics
The L.A. also traded the farm, including then-future league MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, to lure Leonard to the Clippers. That deal is among the most disastrous in the league history and now the Clippers face the possibility of the NBA dropping the hammer on them.
Possible punishments could include Leonard's contract being voided, according to NBA insiders John Hollinger and Nate Duncan, and the loss of all remaining first-round picks. That would leave them without a pick for the next eight years and sure to turn Clippers fans against him after wrecking their franchise. Sound familiar?
Ultimately, it appears that the rest of the NBA is beginning to catch on to Leonard's questionable behavior. It's vindication for the Spurs, who could have their best team post-Leonard next season.
