On a recent Bleacher Report livestream, NBA Insider Jake Fischer was asked about the Spurs as a potential destination for Ja Morant. Fischer said he'd be "absolutely floored" if San Antonio made a move for the disgruntled point guard, considering their success this season and the strong stable of playmakers already on the roster.

That was the nice way of saying no, but it goes much deeper than just not having the room for a player at his position. Morant isn't a fit for the Silver and Black. There's a culture of selflessness and awareness here, and the Grizzlies' injury-prone dunkmaster doesn't fit the mold.

The Spurs wouldn't trade for Morant if they needed a point guard

Ja's self-inflicted issues with the league have been the root of his public perception's downfall. He tanked the respect people had for him because of his inability to recognize his part in his troubles with the NBA. Instead of taking accountability, he blames others and reportedly feels alienated by his teammates.

Nobody told him to get caught on camera holding a gun, but even still, this is America. Guns are a part of the culture, so you can be forgiven for that one, but once the league suspends you for eight games and tells you to stop it, you should just do that. Instead, he gets caught on camera again with a gun and gets suspended for 25 games to start the 2023-24 season.

When he comes back from his suspension, he's doing gun celebrations, and when the NBA tells him to cut it out, he starts lobbing grenades. It's just very rebellious in a childish way. When you're supposed to be the franchise star for a professional sports team, you're supposed to conduct yourself a certain way.

You can be brash. You can talk trash. Anthony Edwards says the wildest things in interviews; Nikola Jokic looks disinterested half the time. This isn't about being some happy-go-lucky company guy. It's about common sense and professionalism. He hasn't grasped that quite yet, so there would be no way in hell the Spurs would trade for a player like that.

That doesn't even get into his Tee Morant, who used to enjoy sitting courtside and acting up during games. He even went as far as to get into a verbal altercation with NFL Hall of Fame tight end Shannon Sharpe one night. There would just never be a need to bring any of that to San Antonio.
