The San Antonio Spurs will return to action on Thursday after three consecutive days off. Following their loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Spurs will play the second of a three-game homestand against the Atlanta Hawks at 7:00 PM.
Currently owning a 13-13 record, San Antonio has already exceeded the expectations of many outsiders this season. But at the same time, it feels like a larger opportunity is there for the taking. They currently sit at 11th place in the Western Conference standings, and they are just 1.5 games back of the sixth-place Phoenix Suns.
If the Spurs are to capitalize on their positioning, they would do best to take care of business against other .500-level teams like the Hawks. Atlanta is an enigma once again, playing up and down to opponents and thus able to lose to or beat nearly anyone. The health of several players will be key for San Antonio on Thursday.
Is Keldon Johnson playing tonight vs the Hawks?
After suffering a left calf strain in the Spurs' 121-116 win over the New Orleans Pelicans on December 8, Keldon Johnson has missed San Antonio's last two games. As of the team's latest injury report released Wednesday afternoon, Johnson is listed as probable. Barring some type of setback in warmups, it looks as though he will be good to go.
