In what is turning out to be a shocking news day around the NBA, the Philadelphia 76ers and President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey agreed to part ways. He had a questionable run as team president, with one of his last moves proving to be one that screwed the San Antonio Spurs over.

He made the questionable decision to trade Jared McCain to the Spurs' rivals, the Oklahoma City Thunder. That move gave the Thunder more firepower, with him averaging 11.5 points in just 14.5 minutes per game during their second-round series against the Los Angeles Lakers.

For a team to be without the second-best player, Jalen Williams, for a month and not miss a beat is a testament to how deep they are. Worse yet for the Spurs, the Sixers made them even deeper by giving them McCain.

Spurs should be furious at 76ers for gifting Thunder Jared McCain

Prior to him getting injured during his rookie season, McCain was the frontrunner to win Rookie of the Year. Now, he is tearing it up on the Thunder and could prove to be a difference maker in a potential series against the Spurs in the Western Conference Finals.

The Spurs will first have to make it there, with them battling the Minnesota Timberwolves in the West semifinals. That series could still go either way, but if they make it to the Western Conference Finals, the Spurs will have their work cut out for them against OKC.

Morey's questionable move at the trade deadline makes a potential series even tougher for San Antonio despite them having the Thunder's number during the regular season.

Obviously, Morey has a great track record, but that move was criticized at the time, and the Spurs probably weren't big fans of that move. We're seeing why now with the Thunder steamrolling their way through the playoffs.
