GTA VI players may take off work on release day but won't be free from the Spurs

Grand Theft Auto VI is one of the most heavily anticipated video games of the century. This franchise's fan base stretches far and wide, with men, women, and children from all across the globe patiently and impatiently awaiting the next installment of chaos, street cred-building, and open-world mayhem.

After several delays, GTA 6 finally releases on November 19, and millions of people are dead set on playing the title immediately. Financial experts are anticipating a $1 billion loss in productivity in the United States alone because people are putting in extended vacation requests. Understandably, they want plenty of time to dive into Rockstar's latest creation.

But the Spurs will need their fans to put aside a few hours to get into a different kind of game mode with the Clippers coming to town.

I know, right? But yes... the Clippers.

A Clippers clash was never going to be the hard part

This isn't going to be one of San Antonio's tougher visitors this season. Quite the opposite, actually. LA is only projected to win somewhere between 28 and 30 games, depending on where you look. It's just not a strong team. They have nary a star in sight. Just a bunch of "cool" players. If the guys show up ready to handle business, they should dispatch the Clips pretty easily.

The Clippers are in a bad way. The worst possible way you could be right now. Kawhi Leonard just left their franchise in ruins after seven years of subpar achievements. The guy only averaged about 47 games played per season, yet he cost them hundreds of millions of dollars, draft picks, and more. Now he's headed to Toronto to compete for a title while his former team gets cast into the Nether Realm by Adam Silver.

They'll just want to get through this season, just as fans will want to get through the night so they can get back to reckless driving through the streets of Leonida. The pull of the controller will be strong, but hold strong, Spurs Nation. For the NBA schedule does not care about Grand Theft Auto VI, and we must always answer the bell when called upon.

The Spurs and fans share an obligation to each other

If the Silver and Black were playing an away game on November 19, things might be slightly different. There'd be no need to show up in the stands, and if there aren't fans in the stands, supporters at home have an excuse.

But we are our brothers' and sisters' keepers, so when the Frost Bank Center is rocking, fans everywhere should be watching and cheering too. We'll have to put those games on pause and lock in. No split-screen action.

It's a community thing.

The relationship between the team and fans is strong, but the bond within the FC is just as important. We celebrate, rage, cry, and laugh together, all while cheering, "Go Spurs Go!" And when the game is over, we'll all scramble to our game systems to resume menacing the GTA streets... together.
