With NBA free agency slowing down to a crawl, the San Antonio Spurs' roster may be close to being set. However, they should look to address some depth issues by potentially reacquiring a former Spurs big man.
The Spurs could use a third big man. And while Houston Rockets center Jock Landale failed to make enough of an impact in his first stint, he might be better the second time around with more NBA seasoning.
The Houston Rockets are waiving center Jock Landale ahead of his July 7 guarantee date, sources tell ESPN. Landale is expected to sign with his preferred destination upon clearing waivers.

The Spurs have two roster spots remaining and could use one of those open spots on Landale. That would give them a third center who could conceivably play some at power forward.
Should the Spurs reacquire Jock Landale?
Landale has his limitations; he isn't particularly good at defending away from the rim and isn't much of a rim protector, though he is a physical defender. Offensively, he is a floor spacer, though he has shot below 30% from three over his first four years in the NBA.
To his credit, he shot 42% from three last season for the Rockets. The Spurs previously flirted with having him in the rotation after Drew Eubanks struggled in his role, and while he wouldn't be a rotation player now, he would give them a different look at center.
Wembanyama is a two-way juggernaut, while Luke Kornet is a pick-and-roll big man who is an elite rim protector. Adding Landale would give them a shooter at the four or five who could play 10 minutes here and there and hit open threes.
The Spurs need as much depth at center as possible
The Spurs could also bring back Charles Bassey or Bismack Biyombo to round out the frontcourt. Given how much of a train wreck the Spurs were at backup center, having as much depth at that position as possible makes sense.
Bassey has been snakebitten by injuries in his three seasons with the Spurs, previously tearing his patella and his ACL. Last season was his first season back from an ACL tear, and that can be blamed for inconsistent play.
Bringing him back a full season removed from his ACL tear makes sense, considering it often takes a year to recover and regain athleticism and confidence. Along with Landale, it would give the Spurs four big men with different skill sets, with Bassey being an athletic rim protector who can rebound and finish in the paint.
Or, they can bring back both Biyombo and Landale, with Biyombo being a reliable shot blocker, rebounder, and roll man.
All told, the Spurs' offseason may already be winding down. However, they should consider at least one more move to add depth at a position of weakness by bringing back Landale.
