San Antonio will have the option of dealing these guys starting next week.

The San Antonio Spurs are still figuring some things out. While acquiring Victor Wembanyama was the biggest step toward re-creating the Spurs' golden days and starting another NBA dynasty, it is clear that the rest of that process is still a work in progress.

In reality, the chances that the Spurs became a playoff contender overnight while playing in the deep Western Conference were always slim. Wembanyama is an otherworldly talent, but as we saw in his rookie season, he cannot do it all by himself.

With that in mind, San Antonio's offseason additions were notable, and the roster has certainly been upgraded compared to last year. In addition to adding some extra numbers in the Spurs' win column, getting those new players has given San Antonio's front office more of an opportunity to make moves ahead of the trade deadline in February.

Now that over six weeks worth of the regular season has passed, the Spurs have a better idea of what they may want their roster to look like in the long-term. They will of course want to continue building around Wemby, and some players on this team have been able to differentiate themselves as more irreplaceable than others this season.

Charles Bassey, Sandro Mamukelashvili, Chris Paul can all be traded

Next week will mark a big milestone as the Spurs look to continue evolving and think about potential roster moves they want to make. On Sunday, December 15, 85 players across the NBA will become eligible to be traded. These players were all signed during the 2024 offseason, and a minimum amount of time had to pass before they became trade-eligible once again.

Of these 85 players, three are on San Antonio's roster. They are Charles Bassey, Sandro Mamukelashvili and Chris Paul. The Spurs will have the ability to move all of them if they so choose in less than a week. But am I crazy to say that all three should probably be staying in town?

Charles Bassey has been an extremely solid backup center option, and he has been one of the best rebounders off the Spurs' bench. Mamukelashvili has exhibited excellent chemistry with Wembanyama, and Chris Paul has obviously been a big ceiling-raiser for this group. Each of these guys make sense to keep from an on-court perspective.

The contract situation is the only reason you could find to move any of these players, and even then only CP3 really fits the bill with the other two playing on minimum deals. Unless the Spurs find a great offer from another team, it is hard to see them pushing hard to move any of these three before the deadline.
