The Spurs haven't played a single game at the Frost Bank Center since February 10. That's a long time away from home, and Dylan Harper did not love his first experience with the Rodeo Road Trip. After completely dismantling the 76ers into an unidentifiable mess, the second overall pick was asked for his thoughts on San Antonio's annual tradition. His answer didn't disappoint.

Well said, young man. He expanded on his experience, admitting that it was cool to see the different cities. However, Harper stated he just wanted to be back home. That's a very normal response to long travel. If you've ever taken a vacation that lasted more than a week, you were likely ready to get back to your bed after day five.
The RRT has been a staple for the Silver and Black every year for over 20 years. Gregg Popovich always used it to bring the team together, so plenty of fans actually view this tradition affectionately. But Pop's strategy was born out of necessity, not favorability, and it's well past time to end this nuisance of a schedule quirk.
The Spurs don't need the RRT to come together
This team was close when the season started, and that's generally the case. You'll find it difficult to get me to believe the Spurs would have been any worse over the years had they not been forced on the road for weeks at a time. That's just not reasonable.
Those rosters were built well, and they were led by three Hall of Fame players and their Hall of Fame coach. They handled the inconvenience well because of who they were. Not the other way around.
Every year the Spurs leave the city to play their longest road trip of the season, and every year it grinds my gears that they have to act like it's not a big deal. Unless you're a complete loner or you hate your family, nobody wants to be away from their loved ones that long. It's why so many players struggled with The Bubble during the Covid season in 2020.
This may not be as intense as that was, but no other team in the league has a yearly 8-9 game road trip they have to deal with because their arena is being used. Project Marvel was a huge win for the guys because as soon as their new place is built, they won't have to worry about this yearly annoyance.
