Draymond reveals phrase that sent Victor Wembanyama into destroyer mode

You probably shouldn't test Wembanyama like this.

The two-game series against the Warriors last week didn't produce a win, but Victor Wembanyama's monstrous dunk on Draymond Green's head was the proverbial "I'm leaving here with something" Denzel Washington meme. Right before the play unfolded, the two big men were seen in a verbal sparring match paired with some physical jousting for position. Earlier today, Green let us know what was said between the two.

You have to hand it to Draymond; his mind games aren't based in any kind of reality. Fortunately for him, they don't have to be. The NBA is filled with basketball players, not tough guys. It's probably pretty easy to mess with most of them. But he's almost a full foot shorter than the Alien, and Vic isn't to be trifled with. He's shown that on more than a few occasions already.

Trying to punk him when he's displayed some of the most disciplined fortitude we've ever seen from a young player is a little on the silly side, but Green is going to do what he does: get on everyone's nerves. It's nice to know that Wemby came with the dog mentality that the great superstars of the game had.

Wembanyama checks every box for a franchise superstar

The 7'4" gargantuan is every franchise's dream. He's a game-changer for any organization in search of a transformative star. Everyone knew to expect jaw-dropping plays from him, but his temperament is just as impressive as anything else he provides. Wembanyama has been steadfast in his approach to the game, and his clarity leads to an unshakable confidence.

It's not a coincidence that the Spurs are already surpassing expectations when he was blowing minds from his first year in the league. He wasn't supposed to be an effective offensive player as a rookie, but he was putting up numbers right from the beginning. All projections short of GOAT should have been tossed after he averaged 21 points in his inaugural season while delivering quotes about trying to traumatize his opponents.

The mean streak in Wembanyama is a fun switch-up from the old days. Tim Duncan was famously impervious to trash talk, but he wouldn't be demonstrative about it. Guys like Kevin Garnett would chirp all day at Timmy D, and he would just look at them like they were crazy before putting up some silly stat line on his way to a victory.

Vic is going to let you know that you never had a shot to stop him. I love that. There's no right way to show dominance. Duncan's way was just fine, and it was really funny to hear guys talk about their failed efforts to get under the Big Fundamental's skin. Wemby's way is different. But that can't be shocking for a guy who's been an enigma his whole life.
