There have been so many reports flying around it's difficult to know what to believe. In those times, we have to turn to the guys closest to the situation and rely on their knowledge and experience. Don Harris has been with News 4 San Antonio for 35 years. So, when he drops some inside information, we believe him because he's as dialed in as anyone. He had good news for Spurs fans.

A multi-team deal is the best path for a De'Aaron Fox/Spurs trade
We knew this could be the case. Earlier reports indicated the Sacramento Kings wanted Stephon Castle in the deal, but the Spurs love their rookie. All signs point to a refusal to include him in any deals.
But if De'Aaron Fox truly wants to go to San Antonio, he has the leverage, and it would behoove the Kings to make it work because Fox could make their lives difficult if they tried to send him elsewhere. With only one additional year left on his deal after this season, teams will want him to agree to an extension. If he won't agree to that, those teams may not be willing to deal with SAC.
Sacramento has been in a position of weakness from the beginning. They have a history of not being able to obtain good players and not being able to retain the good ones they get. They know it just as much as anyone else, so that may make them more willing to make a deal to ensure they get something even if they don't completely love it.
They can't risk this dragging on until next offseason. Bobby Marks did a fantastic job detailing the dangers of doing so. Fox would only have one year left on his deal, likely making him a rental for any team that traded for him. Any front office taking that kind of risk isn't sending a lot of compensation back.
The best bet is for Sacramento to figure out a way to make it work with San Antonio and that's basically what we're starting to hear. The trade deadline is less than a week away and there's no reason to drag things out.
The Spurs would do well to bring Fox in before they begin the Rodeo Road Trip. It wouldn't be ideal for getting settled after a trade, but it would be perfect for getting to know your new teammates and beginning to build chemistry.
