The San Antonio Spurs secured their first blowout win of the season, steamrolling past the Sacramento Kings in Frost Bank Arena. De'Aaron Fox was solid in this game, using his speed and ball-handling prowess to attract defenders and create scoring opportunities for teammates.

Fox has been a great table setter for the Spurs in their first four games, averaging a team-high 7.8 assists per night. He recorded six in that contest against the Kings. Sure, his scoring numbers didn't pop off the charts, as he only posted 11 points, but his sharp playmaking was a huge reason why this team's offense was so dominant.

De'Aaron Fox led the Spurs to a red-hot start

The Spurs found their offensive groove early in this game, and Fox was a driving factor behind that. He got things started by driving downhill off a double screen from Victor Wembanyama and Devin Vassell. The Kings miscommunicated, allowing Wemby to roll into the paint, and the veteran point guard threw a perfect lob pass to him at the rim for a wide-open dunk.

Just moments later, he ran out in semi-transition, baited Zach LaVine to help off the corner, and zipped the ball to Vassell for a three-pointer. What more could you ask for from one of your best ballhandlers? The Spurs have been itching to start games better, and Fox helped them generate two easy shots not even a full minute into the contest.

It continued throughout the rest of the night. He kept setting up his teammates for easy looks, forcing the Kings to play from behind without a chance of coming back.

De'Aaron Fox is putting a muzzle on his doubters

Fox was subject to heavy criticism after his rough performance in the NBA Finals, and rightfully so. The Spurs needed their All-Star guard to play at a higher level on that stage, but so far this season, he's been stepping up to the plate.

It's not just his playmaking. He's also been a solid, efficient scorer, shooting 56.8% from the floor and an impressive 46.2% from distance. In this win against the Kings, he drained both of his three-point looks. He's even had some solid defensive moments, averaging 1.5 steals per game.

This is exactly what the Spurs want to see. He may not be posting All-NBA-caliber numbers, but if he can provide consistent shooting and floor-spacing along with strong playmaking, low turnovers, and solid defense, it'll go a long way for this team as the season goes on.

This version of De'Aaron Fox is the one the Silver and Black need to see every night, from now all the way into the playoffs.
