Paul George reveals Chris Paul "crossed the line" ruining relationship

This feels like it should have been resolved a long time ago.

Paul George isn't the biggest Chris Paul fan, and the reason stems from an interaction the two shared on the court while CP3 was a member of the Phoenix Suns. On his podcast, Podcast P, George revealed a few details about his relationship with Chris and the reason he resents him despite having an immense amount of respect for one of the greatest point guards of all time.

According to PG, he and CP had a clash of words on the court and Chris used language Paul George found offensive. "Words were thrown out there that shouldn't be thrown out there between two men. And so that drew the line for me. And I'm one of those 'once you're on one side, stay over there."

He's clearly still bothered by the situation because he then sent a low blow CP3's way, adding, "I'm not sure if it's that little man syndrome, but he definitely got that competitive nature." That shot felt unnecessarily petty, but if I called him "Petty P," I would be out of line. So, I won't call him Petty P.

George needs to let this go

This is a grown man holding on to a grudge that's almost two years old. In his own words, he acknowledges the competitive fire burning within Chris Paul. In the next clip, Jamal Crawford confirms CP's competitive nature and says that whatever CP3 said had to be basketball-related. As a teammate of Chris' back in the Lob-City Clipper days, he knows the Point God well.

I'm not one of those people who believe that words aren't hurtful or that they don't matter. They do. But I'm also a proponent of getting over yourself and not holding grudges. Talk it out as men and move on. Especially if you know how fiery games get at the professional level.

If he didn't like Chris Paul due to his antics on the court because he believed him to be a dirty player, that would be one thing. You hurt the integrity of the game that way, and guys can get injured. But holding resentment over the heated words said in the moment of an athletic competition two seasons ago seems a bit ridiculous.

The timing of this revelation is another bothersome aspect of this story. Chris Paul is in the midst of celebrating a historic milestone, and most of his contemporaries are celebrating him for it. Now is not the time to introduce negativity into the picture. But that's what happens when you put people in front of microphones. They talk too much.

San Antonio will play against Paul George's new team, the Philadelphia 76ers, in Philly on December 23. Let's hope CP3 adds another double-double to his already stellar season to go along with a big Spurs win when they meet.
