Not all legends get the retirement tour they deserve, and former San Antonio Spurs guard Chris Paul certainly didn't. He spent one season with the Spurs providing veteran leadership and playmaking but opted to sign with the L.A. Clippers to end his career.

Unfortunately, his time with the Clippers was a disaster, with L.A. essentially sending him home about two months into the season. He didn't play another game after December 11th, with him being benched and later traded to the Toronto Raptors.

Instead of signing with another team, Paul chose to call it a career shortly after the February 5th trade deadline. It's too bad, because many Spurs fans hoped that he would rejoin the team.

That didn't happen, but Paul had nothing but great things to say about San Antonio and his short time with the team.

Paul played for seven teams during his Hall of Fame career. Therefore, him saying that the Spurs were the best organization he's ever played for is given more weight.

How ironic is it that Paul was a long time villain for Spurs fans only for him to join the team and have nothing but positive things to say about his experience?

That likely won't sit well with some of his former teams, including the Houston Rockets, Golden State Warriors, and especially the Clippers.

Paul helped transform the Clippers from a perennial laughing stock into a contender. In fact, in the years since trading for him, they have mostly been a playoff team.

It took a bad franchise for Paul to fully appreciate the Spurs

He literally changed the culture, and they decided to ruin his triumphant return and farewell season. It's hard to imagine that Paul would get his jersey retired by the Clippers now.

It's also worth mentioning that they also traded franchise legend Blake Griffin after promising him that he'd finish his career there. Meanwhile, Hall of Famers David Robinson, Tim Duncan, and Manu Ginobili spent their entire careers with the Spurs.

After seeing how San Antonio operates firsthand and having spent eight seasons with the Clippers, the difference between those two franchises must be night and day. CP3 just said as much.
