Bam Adebayo flat-out disrespects Victor Wembanyama ahead of Spurs/Heat clash

It doesn't have to be this way, but we can do it like that anyway.

Bam Adebayo needs to leave San Antonio with a fresh L, along with a good old Texas boot to the backside, after his comments on Victor Wembanyama today. The Heat center was asked about Vic and how crazy it was to have a guy so large do the things he does, and his response was less than gracious.

Before he even spoke, the look on his face was dismissive. He immediately references Boban Marjanovic, showing a complete disregard for the obvious. Wemby is unlike anything we've ever seen before. It's okay to say that. Heat coach Erik Spoelstra didn't have a problem with giving respect where it was due to the French sensation.

Coach Spo perfectly walked the balance between giving proper credit without too much gushing over an opponent. I'm not sure what the Silver and Black did to Adebayo for him to treat the league's future face like a scrub, but if he wants the smoke that badly, the Spurs need to give it to him.

Spurs need to stomp out the Heat

In the days of social media, it's unlikely that these comments don't get back to Vic before the game. We already know he was going to be motivated. He was surprised to learn that the Spurs had never started a season with five straight wins before and told the media that he wants to change that. "Let's beat that record," the franchise giant stated.

He'll only be more fired up to hear that Bam was talking out of the side of his neck before the game. When you make the type of comments the Heat star made right before you're set to face off against the player you slighted, there's extra pressure to back up those words. But this experience won't be anything close to what you've seen from Marjanovic or Bol Bol.

No disrespect to those guys, especially Boban (I'll never speak ill of Boban), but they've never sniffed the skill level that Vic has already displayed in his third season. The former Spurs center, turned John Wick actor, averaged 5.5 points for his career with a single-season high of eight points at 30 years old.

Bol Bol is a 25-year-old free agent who has never averaged more than nine points. Even the last unicorn to enter the NBA, Kristaps Porzingis, has never reached heights like Wemby. He seems like a regular-schmegular player compared to the Alien. It took KP seven years to reach his single-season high of 23 points per game. Vic passed that in year two.

So, don't compare these other guys to what we're witnessing now. It's disrespectful, and at the end of the day, Bam is going to have to deal with whatever Wembanyama evolves into. If he's like this now, it's going to be so much worse in a few years. You don't want him remembering these remarks.
