He had better not injure himself further.

It wasn't but two days ago that Anthony Edwards was listed as week-to-week as he recovered from a hyperextension and bone bruise to his left knee, but magically, things seemed to have changed yesterday. All of a sudden, the explosive 2-guard is questionable to suit up vs. the Spurs tonight, and that's worrisome. Not because of the competitive aspect, but because of the human one.

We've seen athletes injure themselves worse when they return from their rehabs too quickly, and that's the last thing anyone wants to see, including San Antonio fans. Silver and Black Nation is the best in the world because they're loud, supportive, promote a family atmosphere, and are overall good people.

As much as we all want a hyper-competitive series between the Spurs and Timberwolves, seeing anything significant happen to Ant-Man would break everyone's heart.

Spurs fans don't want to see Anthony Edwards re-injured

Consider how San Antonio addresses injuries. How often do you see someone go from a week-to-week status to a questionable one the very next day? Never. Players always want to compete, and it's partially why they're beloved, but you have to save those guys from themselves.

Reports have indicated that Edwards has been pushing hard to come back and play in this series, but that doesn't mean the staff has to acquiesce. We all want to watch a superstar clash. The two matchups we got in the regular season between Ant and Victor Wembanyama were, as the kids say, absolute cinema. But the desire to see the explosive matchup doesn't trump concern for the individuals.

I'm not a doctor. I can't tell anyone how serious his injuries were or what the percentage rate of re-injury is. But experience tells us that when a player's legs are compromised, they can often put additional pressure on the other leg, and that can lead to more problems. The Timberwolves star is recovering from ailments in both legs, so what does that risk look like now?

Again, I'm not a doctor, so I don't know for sure, but I would imagine there's at least some risk. Initial reports told us that they were merely "hopeful" for a Game 3 or 4 appearance, but they didn't seem sure about that. One day later, he was listed as questionable for Game 1. It just feels quick and potentially dangerous, especially since the games in this series will be played every other day.

Antman is one of the most popular players in the league. Many Spurs fans love watching him play. He's that electric. So, if he suits up, fine, but let's just hope the freak athlete in him prevents any further injuries. It's the last thing anyone wants to see.
