Photos surfaced of core members of the San Antonio Spurs family at practice facilities ahead of the new season.

Photographer Nikki Boutte shared a collection of images taken at the Spurs’ training facility including familiar faces and new teammates. San Antonio legend Manu Ginobili is already living up to his promise to contribute to the franchise post-retirement by working and training with his former teammates.

The gallery focused primarily on newly acquired all-star DeMar DeRozan, who’s featured on a number of Boutte’s Instagram posts. DeRozan, a two-time All-NBA selection, appears alongside head coach Gregg Popovich, forward Rudy Gay and former franchise cornerstone Tim Duncan.

It’s no surprise that Timmy is still working out with the team, considering that he’s remained an active member of the Spurs community since retiring from the game two summers ago. His presence and understanding of the team will help to ease the newcomer’s transitions into San Antonio’s system.

Also pictured is sophomore guard Dejounte Murray, whose offseason improvements have been documented via his social media throughout the summer. After struggling from the three-point line early in his career, Murray has committed to improvement as a shooter.

Front and center in the photo is newly re-signed guard Bryn Forbes who’s prepared to compete with sophomore Derrick White for playing time. Forbes signed a two-year $6 million contract extension in July.

The team has spent their offseason acquiring a heap of new talent to expand on the roster’s foundational core. As a whole, the Spurs are poised for an improved season. Now with a full-fledged 15-man roster, Pop and his assistants can solidify their game plan for the coming season. Roughly a month removed from the beginning of preseason, the team is as eager and motivated as a group could be.

With nearly half of the players back in the gym to begin the team’s year, we’re on the dawn of a new era in San Antonio.
