th

, 2016. Preparations are taking place now because the French National team has quite a task ahead.

Parker and his teammates are seeded into Group A, which means his opponents will consist of Venezuela, Australia, Serbia, China, and the United States.

That is more than enough to keep the French National Team busy throughout the tournament, and they have little time for distraction through the preliminary round, which lasts until August 14th for France.

Parker has made it known that this is his last tournament, and probably one of the best teams he has played with as an Olympian. France currently has at least six players all with NBA experience, and understanding of how to play against the toughest competition.

France has never won a medal round before, and while it is not their final chance this year to win one, it will be Parker’s last ride in his Olympic basketball career.

Parker has expressed desire to play in the NBA for five more seasons.  At 34 years old, and playing at one of the toughest positions in the NBA, Parker will have to maintain his body well, and take extra care of himself in the coming years to reach his goal of playing with the Spurs for twenty seasons.

At the start of last season Parker spoke with Yahoo Sports about his retirement plan, and acknowledged that it’s going to take work to see it through as he plans.

The Spurs know I want to play until I’m 38. That will be 20 seasons for me. That’s my goal. This year is No. 15. And if I’m lucky enough and I’m healthy, hopefully I can play 20 seasons and then I’ll be ready to retire.

This is turning out to be a great summer for Parker, qualifying for a trip to Rio in Manilla, finishing off his kids summer camp, playing in the Olympic games one last time, and getting ready for next season, but none of it matters until he first takes care of business. Making sure his family life is together.

Congratulations are in order for Parker who along with his wife Axelle Francine welcomed a new member into the family today. At t 8 a.m. Friday, Parker tweeted the arrival of his second child Liam Parker.

Parker took time away from the National team to be with his wife until the birth of their child, before he takes off to finish what he started on the basketball court.

Axelle Francine has given Parker the okay to take time in Brazil, to bring his Olympic hopes to closure before resuming what is somewhat of a normal life in the NBA.

The Spurs family has been extended even with losses this summer, but it’s not over yet because Kawhi Leonard is also expecting the birth of his first child not long from now.
