The Free Agent Signing Moratorium doesn’t even begin until July 1st. That means beginning on July 1st teams can talk to any prospective free agents but cannot sign them until July 8th. This clause in the current CBA says nothing about fans making websites to try and lure free agents to their team. Enter the Chokiest Team that ever Choked. Never mind the fact that Mark Cuban might have tampered with the Cavs and LeBron James. We’ll just play it loose and say nothing will come of Cubes saying, “Come July 1st, yeah, of course, anybody would be interested in LeBron James, and if he leaves via free agency, then it’s going to be tough…If he does like I’m guessing, hoping he will, which is say, ‘I’m not going to leave the Cavs high and dry,’ if he decides to leave — there’s still a better chance he stays — then he’ll try to force a sign-and-trade, and that gives us a chance.” This is where the fans come in.

Someone has created a website devoted to wooing LeBron James to force a sign-and-trade to the Dallas Mavericks.

I’ll wait for the laughter to subside…

There we go. Feel better? I know I do. When you think about it it makes sense. LeBron would be CRAZY to dismiss the Mavericks as a legitimate destination. They have a proven star in Dirk Nowitzki. They have a crazy rich, willing to do anything even if it means tampering owner in Mark Cuban. They have trade assets in the expiring contracts of Erica Dampier (not a typo) and Caron Butler as well as young talent like Roddy Beaubois. It seems like such a good fit! Oh wait. We’re talking about the Dallas Mavericks. The only team IN HISTORY to lose to a 7th and 8th seed in a best of 7 playoff format. In history. The same team that was up 2-0 on the worst NBA Champion of the past 30 years, had a double digit 4th quarter lead in game 3, and then got backdoor swept. There’s a culture of choking in Dallas. And the temple is the American Airlines Center.

Take a moment to look back on the past few years for LeBron. It looked like he was on the verge of making the next step in 2007. He brought his team, made up of Boobies and guys with tears tattooed on their cheeks, to the finals pretty much all by himself. His team got swept by a superior Spurs squad but no one was worried. After all, he did it by himself. All he needed was help and he was sure to win numerous titles. Unfortunately for LeBron, his team exited a round sooner each of the next two years. He’s going the wrong way. But where to go now that Cleveland hates their native born messiah? Well according to that website (make sure you have your sound turned on), LeBron should force a sign-and-trade so he can go to a team that chokes so hard, they aren’t allowed pretzels on team flights. Makes sense! Let’s look at a Mavericks team that LeBron would see if he were to force a S&T.

PG – Jason Kidd – He’s 37 and was a complete no-show in the playoffsSG – Caron Butler or Jason Terry – The Cavs would ask for an expiring contractSF – Prince of AkronPF – Dirk Nowitzki – The True King…of NothingC – Erica Dampier or Brendan Haywood – Neither of them are very good. Cleveland might want Erica’s large (lol $13 mil) expiring

They have no real bench to speak of and Cleveland would definitely want a player like Roddy Beaubois + a combination of draft picks. Basically they’d be left with Dirk (I’m assuming he picks up his option), LeBron, an over-the-hill PG, and volume Shooting Guards. They’ll be well over the cap so signing any other Free Agents of any worth is out of the question. I don’t know about you but to me that sounds like a recipe for a title team. That title?Losers

Hey wait a sec…LeBron should definitely go to Dallas. Make it happen Cuban!
