Round 1, Game 6 :: Mavs @ Spurs Preview
By mrehome
I wish I was not sending out this preview and talking about preparing for the next round. But it is what it is, we are here, Game Six against the Dallas Mavericks and it is at the AT&T Center. For the Mavericks it is win or go home, for us, win or travel back to Dallas, and the way the Mavericks played in game five, I know for sure we don’t want to go back there.
Our starters had a rough, rough outing in Big D, they have to come alive tonight! So for all you Spurs Fans that are possibly going to the game tonight, make sure that place is loud!
After the jump you can check out our preview of tonights game!

THE MATCHUPS
STARTING FIVE | WHO HAS THE ADVANTAGE?Point GuardsGeorge Hill | Jason Kidd
What We Say: Well we wanted to see the Hill that we saw in Game Four but we managed to see him come back down to earth and score just 12. Good thing is he did not have a turnover in the game, guess that is kinda hard when he didn’t see much action in the second half.
Kidd had just 10 points but was more agressive and more productive for the Mavs in 31 minutes of play. He was able to get down in the paint and post up against Hill at times.
Advantage: Spurs
Shooting GuardsManu Ginobili | Caron Butler
What We Say: Not much to say here as Ginobili summed up how he played, “I played like crap.” Gino is right his stat line didn’t look great, 7 points, 2 of 7 from the field in just 18 minutes. It will change tonight!
Butler had his best game of his playoff career. He came out and simply torched the Spurs in the first half ending with 21 points and finishing with a game and playoff high 35. Butler has been the definate scorer for the team and we know he will get his points, we will contain him tonight.
Advantage: None
Small ForwardsRichard Jefferson | Shawn Marion
What We Say: Jefferson……Jefferson….Jefferson. Where is that aggression that we all know you have. Tonight is the night, let it all on the line, we need it. Four points from you is not going to cut it for us.
I for one can’t stand watching Shawn Marion shoot the ball. He has the worst shot in the NBA! Though that is the case, Marion can still hurt us in many ways.
Advantage: None
Power ForwardsTim Duncan | Dirk NOwitzki
What We Say: We need to see the Duncan that shows up in the Playoffs tonight. I think we will see that. Back at home, the Spurs want to end it and Duncan wants to be the reason why. Yeah, he will be there, PLAYOFF TIMMY!Dirk seems to be worried about complaining to the referees than getting back on defense. Everytime the guy misses a shot he is in the ear of the ref, well I guess that is all NBA players, NOT THE SPURS THOUGH. In elimination games Dirk brings it, 28.3 points and 12.2.
Advantage: Even
CentersAntonio McDyess | Erick Dampier
What We Say: Well we can say that Dyess pretty much summed up the game for the starters. He left his offense in San Antoino too.
Haywood did what he does best, block shots. He had four of them in game five.
Advantage: None
Bench and Role Players
Tony Parker | Jason Terry
What We Say: The Beast DeJuan Blair got into foul trouble early, too early. He could not be much of a factor for us. Tony Parker played well scoring 18. Where in the world is Matthew Bonner? Can someone tell him that we are in the damn playoffs and it would be nice if he hit a shot here and there!
Thing that scares me about Terry is that once he gets going the man will be hard to stop. Though I don’t see him getting more than 20 points he can still hit some key shots.
Advantage: Spurs

What We Say: We are at home! What do you think will happen!
