The San Antonio Spurs are a team of many milestones, as an organization as well as amongst their players. Another was reached by Matt Bonner. This season marks the 10th season for the forward with the Spurs. Certainly a milestone in any players career.

Bonner may not look like your prototypical basketball player. He is well known around the city. He has become a fan favorite with nicknames such as, “The Red Rocket” and “Red Mamba.”

A company that is also well-known in the San Antonio area and all around Texas Big Red will be celebrating the sharp-shooters milestone with a limited edition packaging to their bottles.

Here is the official release from the company:

BIG RED SODA LIMITED EDITION PACKAGING CELEBRATES MATT BONNER’S 10 YEAR PROFESSIONAL BASKETBALL CAREER IN SAN ANTONIO

(AUSTIN, TX) – Big Red, America’s original and best-selling red soda, teams up with the NBA’s Matt Bonner for a limited edition 2-liter bottle to commemorate his 10 year professional basketball career in San Antonio. Bonner is 1 of only 6 players to join the team’s exclusive 10 year club. The 3-point specialist and dependable role player is proud to be a part of the team’s success over the years. Starting in mid-November, consumers in central and south Texas can purchase the limited run bottles until supplies last.

“We are excited to work with San Antonio fan favorite Matt Bonner for a second year,” says Big Red’s SVP of Marketing Thomas Oh. “To celebrate his 10 year anniversary, we thought it only made sense to put the NBA’s only red head on San Antonio’s #1 red soda, Big Red.”

The limited edition Matt Bonner Big Red bottles can be purchased in the following cities:

  • San Antonio, TX
  • Austin, TX
  • Corpus Christi, TX
  • Brownsville, TX
  • Harlingen, TX
  • McAllen, TX

“I am honored to have spent the last 10 years in San Antonio.” says Matt Bonner. “I am excited about teaming up with Big Red, Texas’ most iconic soda, for a second straight year. This partnership continues as my teammates and I kickoff the 2015-2016 season.”

Ten year San Antonio veteran and two time NBA Champion, Matt Bonner, nick-named “Red Mamba,” is a down-to-earth fan favorite. When he’s not playing basketball, Matt Bonner spends his time with his family in New Hampshire and sipping on his favorite Big Red Soda.

Off the court, Matt is quirky, trustworthy and relatable. With his brother Luke, Matt co-founded the Rock On Foundation in 2013, which serves to increase community artistic and athletic opportunities. He also appeals to his fans by making short videos titled “Wrapping with the Red Mamba,” in which he eats sandwiches with popular rappers. As an all-around fun, creative basketball player, Matt Bonner makes a great addition to the Big Red Soda team.

Thomas Soper, a fan in Corpus Christi snapped a shot and shared it on Twitter. We won’t make you click the link, here it is in all its glory:

Bonner now has himself a soft drink to be able to wash down those sandwiches that he tends to hunt for. Yes, another one of his hobby’s is searching for the best hoagies around.
