The San Antonio Spurs have been the most successful franchise in the NBA in the past 20 years, and a major part of that success is due to some of the greatest players of team history.

They have won five titles since 1999 and have made the playoffs every year since 1997. They have won at least 50 games every full season since 1997. Selecting Tim Duncan in the 1997 NBA Draft turned around the whole franchise. The Spurs were led by the “Admiral” David Robinson, but Duncan took them to the next level and they became an unstoppable tandem.

The Spurs have had lots of terrific players in their history, which makes it easy to see a few talented players were left off the list. Sean Elliott, Larry Kenon, and Alvin Robertson are honorable mentions.

5. Manu Ginobili

Manu Ginobili has had a terrific career, internationally and in the NBA. Despite being a sixth man most of his career, Ginobili might make the hall-of-fame. Ginobili’s resume is loaded. He is a four-time champ, two-time NBA All-Star, and a two-time All-NBA Third Team member. He also won the sixth man of the year award in 2008.

If Ginobili would’ve came to the NBA before the age of 25, he would’ve been even more successful. His best season of his career was in 2008, when he averaged 19.5 points and 4.5 assists. Ginobili will forever be remember for making big shots and his nifty passes.

4. Tony Parker

Tony Parker came into the league in 2001 and he made an impact right away. As a rookie Parker made the All-Rookie Team, posting averages of 9.2 points and 4.3 assists. But few imagined he would have the career he has had. The six-time All-Star has been a big part of the Spurs four rings since 2001 and he has performed at a high level in the postseason.

Parker has career averages of 18.9 points and 5.3 assists in the playoffs. His regular season numbers are slightly lower at 16.9 points and 5.9 assists. He has made 3 All-NBA Second Teams and one All-NBA Third Team. He was also the Finals MVP in 2007. Parker is the best point guard in Spurs history.

3. George Gervin

George “Iceman” Gervin is the best pure scorer in Spurs history. The nine-time NBA All-Star averaged at least 21 points in his 11 seasons on the team. He was selected to 5 All-NBA First Teams and 2 All-NBA Second Teams. Gervin had an astounding 74 games of at least 40 points in his NBA career.

Gervin’s career averages in the NBA are 26.2 points and 4.6 rebounds. His best season came in 1979-80, when he averaged 33.1 points and 5.2 rebounds. He was also a four-time scoring champion. Gervin’s teams didn’t have the success of the other members on this list, but as an individual he was as good as they come.

2. David Robinson

David “The Admiral” Robinson is one of the most dominant centers in NBA history. He was a 10-time NBA All-Star and a two-time champion. Robinson won the MVP award in 1995 and he is a 10-time All-NBA Selection.

Robinson was a great defender as well, making 4 All-NBA Defensive First Teams and 4 All-NBA Defensive Second Teams. As a rookie one already knew how great Robinson would be. He averaged 24.3 points, 12 rebounds, and 3.9 blocks. The Admiral has career averages of 21.1 points, 10.6 rebounds, and 3 blocks.

Tim Duncan is arguably the best power forward of all-time. The 15-time NBA All-Star can do it all. He is a 15-time All-NBA Selection and a five-time champion. He has three Finals MVP’s and two regular season MVP awards. Duncan is also a 15-time All-NBA Defensive Selection.

What makes Duncan a unique superstar is his humbleness. Every teammate seems to love him and he leads by example. Duncan has career averages of 19.5 points, 11 rebounds, 2.2 blocks.
