It's unclear what happened to the most interesting man in the world, but if a new campaign is ever launched, Victor Wembanyama should be the frontrunner. Since he's entered the league, he's dropped gem after gem with a microphone in his face. It's a real treat for Spurs fans who don't have a ton of experience with their superstar flexing on his opponents like Wemby does.

But Vic is his own person, and that person has a mean streak, so when he says he wants to "traumatize" his opponents, he means it—in the basketball sense, of course.

That was just one of many great quotes from Wembanyama in his young career, and there are sure to be many more at this rate. There will be plenty of microphones shoved in front of him due to his status as a rising superstar.

That status comes with expectations, and he's used to that, but it's his answer about whether he believes there are more team expectations from the outside that fans will love.

"I don’t know, and it doesn’t really matter. But there’s definitely more team expectations from the inside... We’re trying to set new standards.” - Victor Wembanyama

Wembanyama never forgets what matters most

So many are consumed with the opinions of others and it's unhealthy. It usually takes reaching a level of maturity that comes with experience before you reach that conclusion, but Wemby has already figured it out. That's part of the healthy culture the Spurs are so famous for.

San Antonio has never been the team with a ton of expectations in the past, yet the Silver and Black are regarded as one of the best organizations in the league. They have won, no matter what was projected entering the year.

They'll continue to operate that way. Whether the team is underrated or overrated has no bearing on what happens on the floor. They'll decide how the season goes with their play and judge themselves based on the standards they set.

Basketball is a team sport, and no man can achieve the highest peak by himself. Whatever happens outside of your organization is outside of your control. You play for the guys beside you, your coach and the rest of the people who invest in your growth. It's not just a basketball lesson: it's a life lesson.
