With potential superstar Victor Wembanyama now a member of the San Antonio Spurs, fans of the team are undoubtedly excited to see him represent the Silver and Black next season. One of their first chances will be when NBA 2K24 is released next month.

That is a big deal since many basketball fans, in addition to watching the NBA, also enjoy playing NBA 2K. In fact, their player ratings have become a source of debate when it comes to the top stars. That has led to anticipation about where Wembanyama will be ranked in 2K24, and we now have the answer.

While an 84 rating is seemingly low for a player who is considered to be the greatest draft prospect in NBA history, it's actually very good. After all, Wembanyama will have the highest rookie player rating of any player in 2K history, and the game has been around for more than 20 years.

Victor Wembanyama's high player rating may only be the beginning.

If Wembanyama is as good as we all hope that he is as a rookie, his player rating will look rather low come NBA 2K25. Better yet, his exceeding expectations will translate into wins for a team that finished with just 22 of them last season. That could lead to increased exposure for the team and a dramatic increase in nationally televised games after they had dwindled in recent seasons to virtually none.

Then there are fans of the video game who may want to play as the Spurs simply because he is on their team. That could actually translate into more people watching San Antonio next season and even more fans. Ultimately, while an 84-player rating may be less than most Spurs fans were expecting, it is actually good. And if he lives up to expectations, it could also lead to more attention for the Spurs.
