January: 16 Games

January appears to be the month that San Antonio is able to make up ground in the standings. They will play 16 games, including 8 away games, but they will have a much-needed five-game home stand where I expect them to go at least 4-1.

It also helps that they will play Detroit, Charlotte, Washington, and Portland, all teams that should be worse than the Spurs. Beating up on bad teams is a recipe for success, and I expect San Antonio to have their first winning month of the season because of it.

January Prediction: 9-7 (22-26)

February: 12 Games

With the Spurs likely to be below .500 entering February, they will face an uphill battle to make up ground. San Antonio will play 12 games, including nine straight games on the road, as part of the annual road trip.

Unfortunately, they project to go just 2–7 during that trip, and they probably won't fare much better in the month as a whole. Going 6-6 is probably out of the question, and the playoffs might be too at the end of February.

February Prediction: 3-9 (25-35)
